Mark Maske, Washington Post

Washington decided today to release QB Danny Wuerffel and RB Kenny Watson. Coach Steve Spurrier said that the club will enter the season with only two QBs on the 53-man roster. The Redskins also decided to release rookie TE Kevin Ware, WR Patrick Woodcock, OL Pita Elisara and Brad Bedell, DL Delbert Cowsette and Bernard Jackson, DB Ricot Joseph and rookie LB Clifton Smith.

I am very much surprised that the skins could not trade Watson for a late round draft pick.

It is also not like Spurrier to only keep two Qb's.

I mean now he can"t shuffle a QB every week.

im more dissapointed then surprised... the reason the skins cut watson is because of the emergence of undrafted rookie rb sultan mccullough of usc. with 5 rbs (trung, watson, betts, morton, sultan) one had to go and the rest of the league knew it. why trade for one of them when u can just pick one of them up after they are released? :-/ besides as an undrafted, barely proven rb, watson wouldnt have brought in better then a 6th or 7th anyway.
