again, it seems people are confusing speed and quickness. Willie Parker may not have the top speed, but he is by you faster than most anyone. It seems to me Portis has both, but I may be wrong.

I don't think McGahee is THAT fast. To me he's a good mix of speed and power. He's a well-built and strong half back but small enough to find holes in the line and hit them hard or run outside and turn the corner, in which case he can break a tackle or two. More of a mixture than a mad speed back, IMO.
i was reading something not too long ago about michael bennett being/having olympic speed.
portis is probably the best now.
without a doubt, in my opinion, bo jackson was the best...ever. man, if he didn't get hurt, i think he would have re-wrote the record books and the raiders would have won a lot more games in the 90's. i watched many, many games of his - i remember once against the lions, he turned the corner and just took off. a DB was just able to knock him out of bounds...bo ran over one of the lion's coaches - i was CONVINCED he killed him - it was like a deer standing in front of a train (little old guy, too). obviously he lived, but - man - bo was something the NFL may have never seen after jim brown and won't see again for another 30 years.

He still has very good top speed:
Parker runs the 40 in the high 4.2s but that doesn’t mean this speedster is slight-of-build by any means. He’s listed at 209 pounds and has a body-builder’s physique. He might not be able to withstand 20-25 carries a game, but he’s never proven he can’t, either.
