Seems like most of the records have fallen lately. Even George Blanda's (which I thought was impossible).
So - I'm going Marino.
The question is which record.
I'll say Dan Marino's TDs in a single season which dates back to the '80s I think.

I think I know what it is, and it belongs to the late, GREAT crew cut high tops Johnny U.
My favorite player as a kid.
Unitas threw for a TD in some unbelievable number of straight games. 40 or 50 straight games. Something like that.
If it hasn't been broken (what hasn't, lately?) it used to be considered "unbreakable".
Like Lou Gehrig's streak.

Ernie Nevers is correct. Most points in a game by one player. Back in 1929, the Chicago Cardinals' Ernie Nevers scored 40 points on 6 TD's and 4 XP's. Aim high cadets...6TD's in one game? Good luck.
