Question for Signature Makers

Postby TheDeepBomb » Fri Sep 09, 2005 8:41 pm

How do you make a good sized signature fit into these boards' constraints? I have a 100px high by 244px wide picture @ 8-bit color saved as a gif and it's still too big for these forums to allow it (17k, jpg is 72k)

I use Photoshop for all of my creations, just asking for some tips before I give up. 12k? :-t

Ah yes, thanks.

Go ahead and ignore/delete this thread, I've fixed my problem.

I had to reduce my number of colors from 256 to 72 just to barely fit into the 12288 bytes. It's just very difficult to understand how someone can have a nice 468x100 or x60 signature and not break the 12k barrier. As you can see, the size of my signature is very mild and it's right against the limit.

Mine is a .gif and its size is much smaller than the comprable jpg I saved of it. Ah well, I'm just not used to working in such small constraints and performaing miracles with photography :-b ;-)

you should be clicking save for web and then save it as a jpeg. there is no reason a sig that size with a solid colored background shouldnt be able to be saved at over 60 percent original quality. if you dont use the save for web option you will never get a good looking product under cafe limits if it s a normal sized sig.

hmm, do u think save for web works with macromedia?

ive just been saving it as the .png, and then converting it to a jpg using a program called irfanview (thanks gjg), usually getting about 55-70 percent quality, would my sigs look better if i saved for web?
