Poker chip sets... need help on a good buy

Postby no1cowboysfan » Sun Sep 11, 2005 6:59 am

Well, seeing as this is a site dominated by football watchers (go figure), I figured this would be a good site as any to ask about a good deal for a chip set. Most football watchers two favorite non-football-related hobbies are drinking beer and playing poker (I am an obvious stereotype of this as well...). Therefore, I come to ask...

Basically, I'm looking for a decent set (screw fancy designs and what not) of a 500-piece chip set. I want to steer clear of composite (I'd like clay, but they're too damn pricey) just because I like a more textury feel to my chips. Are the so-called "clay composite" chips any better, or should I just stick with composite? In addition, I just want to find a site that won't pull my pants down with the price (and for that matter, the shipping).

Any help would be great. ;-D

yeah the ones aww mentioned are great, i have those but not that many, the ones that say they are 11.5 grams are the best, otherwise chances are they are the crappy plastic ones,

here are the ones i have, they come in packs of 200 though

That's a great deal, the only thing that I don't like about it is that you can't decide how many chips of each color you get. I would suggest you get at least 500 chips. I think you shoud get clay, from the sounds of it you will be using them a lot, so eventually you would probably end up buying clay ones, so why not get them now? I also recommend ebay, I got mine of there, they were everything thing they said they would be.

For value and decent quality I would pop into Sams club and buy the WPT set they sell for 99 bucks. Comes with a nice wooden case and the chips have a nice feel and sound to them.

my friend got these http://www.allinchips.net They are very very nice, 100% real clay, 10.5 grams.

He got 500 for $200 bucks. So they're not cheap but very nice.

$34.99? At that price you cannot go wrong - I think that's the same set a friend of mine has and we play with them all the time with no complaints here...

I hear the US Treasury makes a great set 1's 5's 10's 20's 50's 100's etc. They even make some silly round kinds.
