Don't play Jason Hanson this week.....

Postby Plindsey88 » Wed Sep 14, 2005 1:06 pm

Sep 14 - The Lions brought in kickers Wade Richey and Remy Hamilton for workouts on Tuesday, but did not sign either player. The team continues to monitor the strained right hamstring of kicker Jason Hanson and will make a decision in the next day or two on whether to sign a second kicker as insurance. Hanson injured his hamstring kicking off against the Packers in week one; there is no update available on his condition.

Right now DET has been very hesitant to bring in another K as their stance is that A - they dont know the extent of Hansons injury yet - he could go this Sunday, and B - even an 80% Hanson is better than these other guys at full strength.

"We'll list him as day-to-day and see how he comes along," Mariucci said. "We're going to cover all of our bases and we'll bring in some kickers to try out just in case. One alternative would be to sign another kicker and let him kick until Jason feels better. Another alternative might be to keep him kicking the short stuff and using an alternative for kickoffs -- or going for it on fourth downs."

Since there are always K options available in fantasy leagues - go with another option for this week. No need to risk it with Hanson.

Yeah the biggest prob. with Hanson is kickoffs and long field goals. Which is the 5pt. ones so I would agree don't start him until he shows he's healed up.
First the Shock, then the Pistons can the Lions be next?

Well maybe next yr.

PS I didn't lose a paper bag challenge but somehow as a Lion's fan it just feels right.
