Dallas ST = bad? or Sproles = damned good?

One dark shadow over Dallas' victory against SD was the poor play of their kickoff team's coverage skills. Twice, Kansas State rookie RB/KR Darren Sproles crossed into Dallas territory on kickoffs, obviously allowing SD to get much-needed field position.

Now, last year, Dallas was #1 in KR coverage, and even though we have plenty of young players this year, I can't see this much of a dropoff.

So the question we have to ask ourselves is... is Sproles really that good? I've been high on this guy for a while... and while he's a perennial backup to LT, down the road he might explode on another team. For now, for a league rewarding return yards, he's worth a flyer.

I used to dominate with Sproles and El Roberson on K State in College Football 2003 for PS2. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Ever since then I'll always consider Sproles to be an absolute beast.

Sproles is good. He'll probably bust a couple this year for scores but there's no reason for someone to consistently cross onto your side of the field on kick returns.

I might be extremely biased towards Sproles since I am a die-hard Wildcat fan - but I hope they get him some receptions this year. Granted pre-season doesn't mean a whole lot...but he had some impressive rec stats. Look out for him in a couple years after he's learned a ton from LT2 and lands on a team where he gets some carries.

Why not both? Dallas sux but that's just my opinion. I'm sure yours would be Redskins sux.

Spoles looked like he was in fast forward. It was quite a sight. What shocked me was the pretty good hit Cortez threw on him the first time. I was pretty impressed. But yeah i just think Spoles is that good/fast.

BTW, Redskins Win....I do think your team sucks.

I agree Sproles is extremely fast and agile but the cowboys special team unit was missing its best player from last year when they were ranked #1 in kickoff coverage, Keith Davis, who is now the starting free safety. Parcells already said this week that he plans to put Davis back in special teams coverage so look for an improvement this week against the skins
