Drew Brees - no respect. Don't get it.

I'm looking at weekly rankings at different sites and Brees is in the mid-teens on most websites. I don't get how people justify that after last year. He's an accurate, composed passer with a ton of weapons: LT2, Gates, McCardell, Caldwell, etc. I can't comprehend why people don't think he'll repeat least years #s. The belief, I know, is that Marty is normally a run first guy. So what? That just sets up the long pass and LT2 is one of the best catching balls out of the backfield and Gates can always break one.

Personally, I think it's crazy that he's not listed as a top-10 QB. Just my opinion.

Drew Brees had only 3,100 yards last year and 27 TDs. 9 or 10 of which came in only 2 games. Perhaps it was the emergence of Gates who set a TD record last season? Most people don't predict that to be repeated..

Outside of a few outstanding games last year, Brees was very ho-hum. Sure Gates will get his, but not to a record setting pace again. Plus, the Charger's won the division last year and have a much more difficult schedule this year.

I dont think last yr was a fluke at all - but likewise I dont think he'll be a top 10 fantasy QB either. Basically to me there are a ton of QBs in his range that could put up numbers as good or better than him this yr. The difference between the 6th best QB and the 15th best QB in fantasy could end up being roughly 30 points in standard scoring. Thats how close all these guys are.

Point is - are you THAT much more confident that Brees puts up substantially better numbrs than Hasselbeck, Plummer, Brady, Delhomme, Brooks, Pennington, Palmer, Griese, McNair, Vick, or Harrington? None of these guys are considered in the top 5 and Brees regularly gets ranked close to the top of this group. Any of them has a chance to crack the top 10 - its not like Brees has that much of an advantage over the group.

Yes, Brees could easily crack the top 10 - but the group of QBs he is being ranked in is so close, that drafting him or ranking him consistantly ahead of these other guys would have been a mistake. Many rankings had Brees in the top 10 - so I guess Im not sure what the beef is.

Well, I agree that Brees isn't a guy you should have drafted high -- because it was obvious people were undervaluing him big-time. And that's the beauty about the guy. I didn't draft a QB until Round 15 -- and it was Drew Brees. Afterwards, I got Griese in Round 19. But it was killing me how guys like Palmer and Leftwich went way above Brees. I didn't get that at all.

I picked up Brees in the 9th round for my starter. He had a decent week 1, and this week he gets Gates back which will help greatly.
