Will GONZO have his usual solid year?

Postby hoosier1032 » Thu Sep 22, 2005 7:19 pm

his first few games last year were pedestrian. He'll shape up as defenses start stacking against the run.
ADMIN edit: please note that the overall sig limit is 12k - thanks!

The Chiefs, to me, appear to be rolling once again.
Finally.
Don't even sweat Gonzo until about week 5, and then only if the stats aren't there (I'd be surprised if they weren't).

There is an upside to these studs not producing early on.

It means 2 of their crappy games are already in the past. If they end up with a year like they typically put out, all we have to look forward to are good games. Good enough to round out these bad ones.

He'll be solid again but won't match last year.

It'd be damn tough to match last year.

I'll mark him down for 900 yards and 7 TDs, which is excellent for a TE.

Normally the articles on Sportsline are pretty crappy, but there was actually a decent one about defenses prepping in the offseason to deal with the rise of the "elite" TEs, and that position's overall production so far this season.

While I don't consider that a big concern for Gates/Gonzo owners, it might be interesting food for thought when regarding the Witten/McM/Heap tier over the season...

Not preaching here (i.e., don't feel like arguing the point), but it's something to think about. Makes sense that as the TE spot becomes more offensively important, Ds are going to start scheming to prevent it.
Praise Ricky!

This theory didn't work when I picked Jamal Lewis with my number 1 pick last year. He never produced. Whether he was injured last year or not, I stayed away from him like the plague this year.

The upside might mean that 2 of their crappy games are in the pass, but that really doesn't make anybody feel any better if they're going to have 12 crappy games. :-b
