LaMont Jordan starting soon??

Postby Warpigs » Thu Sep 04, 2003 10:58 am

With the Jets offense relying more heavily on the run, will Curtis Martin finally crack under the pressure of defenses keying on him, opening the door for Jordan? I have a fairly deep bench and already have DeShaun Foster and Lamar Gordon. However, out of the three, I think Jordan is the biggest possibility to start sooner and make an impact quicker. Am I wrong in assuming this?

I know Martin had a down year last year, but I would still put my money on him. After all, 30 isn't that old.

No offense to C-Mart, but I have been scared of Jordan taking his job since last year. He seemed like a more explosive back. At the same time tho everyone knows Barlow is the more explosive back in SF and Hearst is still the starter.

most of the knowledgeable Jets fans I've talked to said they would like to see Jordan get the ball more often.

I think that says a lot.

I can't Martin losing the starting job, Jordan may get more touches. As long as Martin can play, he'll be the starter!

If C Mart get injured, a distinct possibility with him getting a heavier load, Jordan will probably be able to step in without missing a beat. I plan to pick him up via F/A if Curtis so much as gets brushed up against this season.

Martin has carried the Jets for a long time. I think it's going to take an injury or a ridiculously bad start for Jordan to get the job.

Regardless of if Jordan gets the starting job (he won't unless C-Mart gets banged up - which I expect), it a pretty bad sign for Martin owners. It was apparent his skills were finally declining last year. Seeing Jordan enter the game inside the 5 and be there for 4 straight downs isn't an encouraging start.

If Jordan does get a full-time chance, look out. The RB class of 2001 was a pretty good one.
