Clayton - bust?

Postby s0meguy » Sun Sep 25, 2005 1:13 pm

I drafted this guy in the 4th round and Galloway is getting all the yards and touchdowns. Did I screw up and draft a bust, or will Clayton turn it around?

Firsy of all you drafted him too early, he should be going 5th or 6th. I think he wil be a bust b/c the defnese is rebounding and keping them ahead and they are now a running team with caddilac.

Griese has been "managing the game" and playing "mistake free football"(well, as mistake free as he can get). But in other words, he's been playing like crap. I think Gruden has been testing Caddy a bit, but he knows he can't run him into the ground. And Gru LOVES to pass. So either the run will eventually(I think soon) open up the pass for some nice gains or Griese will keep up with the 160 yard games and we're screwed.

I keep flipflopping between him and Djax for my number 3 WR trying to play matchups and keep getting burned. I feel your pain man.

the answer pure and simple?

you drafted clayton too high.

there's stud-ability and stud-situation. clayton may have stud-ability but last year's numbers were based primarily on stud-situation. during the course of the year, he went from third on the depth chart to the top by virtue of showing up: mccardell holding out and keyshawn having management issues.

so they recruit another stud-possible player in galloway (hey, he was good once) and you're surprised that clayton's production drops?

caveat emperor, my man. caveat emperor.

It's a little too soon to call him a bust. The biggest problem seems to be that teams are covering him like he is the #1 and Galloway is left alone. I think teams will start respecting Galloway more now, and Clayton should start seeing more open spaces. That should equal TDs.
