Volek still seems smarter if you want to make a run this year.
The Titans are going to want WAY too much for Volek.... No way in hell the Jets give them a first and second rounder for him, and the Titans are in no position to part with him for too much less, because their quarterback is 1 goot hit away from retirement....

If he gets the job, Coles value will sky rocket.
A first round pick is WAY too much to pay for Volek, IMO.... Especially when you consider that the Jets very likely will have a top 10 pick in the 2006 draft.....
In fact, it's likely that they would be trading Leinart, Vince Young, or Marcus Vick for Volek, which would be a mistake....
I think a first rounder is too much to pay with the 2006 draft class looking strong in the QB department....
A 1st round QB in 2006 will not pay dividends until 2007 at least. Even if he is a good one, he won't get up to the speed Volek is at already for 2 years. I don't think Herman Edwards has that long. I think they would do a 1st. And they would save millions doing it.I actually think it would be a good move for the Jets. 1st rd Qb's cost a ton of money and about 1/3 of em turn out to be not that great on the NFL level. With Volek, you already know what you're getting. Good move for the Jets, I just don't think it's good for Tennessee, even with the first rd pick.
Is Mauck that good for Tenn. to pull him in and make him active. Are they doing this to trade Volek or are they really just worried about losing Mauck? There alot of crazy questions out there but boy I really think Volek has the potential to take the Jets to the playoffs this year if thats where this ends up. I agree w/ Pete that Volek is worth a 1st round pick but not a 1st and 2nd. I guess thats why I was wondering if Mauck was any good to see if maybe Tenn was considering having him backup McNair.
Hard to say from that. Could be that Tenn. doesn't want to help them out at all, or it could be simply that Tenn. didn't want to give up something for nothing. By moving him to the roster, they will get something for him, or Volek, if a deal can be struck.
