Kicker Debacle

Postby kashikis » Tue Sep 27, 2005 2:33 pm

Is it just the games that have been on in my area or have there been an ungodly amount of botched kicks this year? I mean guys missing 2 per game, shanking extra points, and things like that. And don't forget punting.

Like I said it may be just here in central PA but it seems a little out of control. We have watched lots of Eagles and Baltimore games though lol.

It has seemed that way.... However, a quick check of the stats shows that nearly half (15) of the kickers in the NFL are perfect on field goals, and 25 of them are at 75% or above....

28 kickers are perfect so far with their extra points....

It might seem that way, because we have some big names missing kicks....

Vinatieri, Longwell, and Dawson have all missed extra points...

And Elam, Janikowski, Akers, and Stover are all below 75% with regards to field goals....

Perhaps this is just a case of us focussing in too strongly on kickers that typically start for fantasy teams, rather than actual trends for the league as a whole....

Cortez...ugh...didn't Dallas hold an open tryout for a kicker because they had no faith in him? I remember hearing about the type of people that showed up...one can only imagine!
Doesn't it suck to get beat at Fantasy Football...by a girl?
