I have a new league and I am getting a lot of complaints about our scoring system. We use a flex so we agreed to balance scoring among rb, wr, te. That way there wouldn't be any advantage to a RB over a WR. Through week three the averages are pretty even across the board.
Our scoring system
QB- Td pass 4pts, Td rush/rec 6pts; 1pt for every 40 yds passing, 1pt for every 10 yds rushing/receiving
RB- Td pass 4pts, Td rush/rec 6pts; 1pt for every 20 yds rushing/receiving
4-7 rec (2pts), 8-11 rec (4 pts), 12+ (6 pts)
WR- Td pass 4pts, Td rush/rec 6pts; 1pt for every 15 yds rushing/receiving
5-8 rec (2pts), 9-12 rec (4pts), 13+ (6pts)
TE- Td pass 4pts, Td rush/rec 6pts; 1pt for every 10 yds rushing/receiving
3-6 rec (2pts), 7-10 rec (4pts), 11+ (6pts)
Is that too complicated?
So far it is working, but people are bitching. (I think they are just pissed that they didn't adapt, they all drafted a mediocre rb3 for flex instead of grabbing a stud wr1/2)
Do you guys have any suggestions, for how to improve this?
Also I would appreciate any alternative systems that could accomplish the same goal.
I will help anyone who helps me.

I think the system sucks, honestly. The road less traveled is less traveled for a reason....stick with standard scoring.
I really don't even care more or less what the scoring system is unless it's highly slanted toward one position or another and that affects my draft. Since the season is under way the rules are the same for everyone.

The chances of a WR catches 5-8 balls is MUCH higher than an RB catching 4-7 balls.
Personally, I don't like PPR leagues at all. If you are going to have them, just keep it simple and do a point per reception. When you add tons of rules, it just complicates things and doesn't add any fun to the fantasy football experience.
you dont change the rules once the draft starts PERIOD. let em complain all they want. they knew what the system was before the draft so the only one they have to blame is themselves. (but its always easier to find a scapegoat!)
Simple. I can give you a basic rundown here and if you want the specifics, let me know and I will PM you. But essentially 4 pts per all passing TDs. 1 pt for every 20 passing and 1 pt for every 10 rushing or receiving.
To balance it out, we give 1 pt per reception to everyone except RB's. RB's get half a point. We've run with it three years running and it keeps it pretty balanced among all positions. Of course TE's are still lagging but you would have to have some off the wall scoring for TE's to catch up to RB's and WR's as a group.
