thanks smackthefirst that is a good alternative that i can work with. I have been thinking about just using PPR, but didn't know how well that worked. I had never even heard of it before coming to this board. I would like all of the details though.

Why wouldn't you want balanced scoring? Especially in a league using a flex position. I feel like it adds a dimension to the way you can build your team.

Passing TD: 4pts
Passing yards: 30 yds a point
Rushing/Recieving: 10 yards a point.
Rushing/Recieving Tds: 6pts
Al lpoints the same regardless of posistion. Trying to make all points eagual is just screwing around with all FF startegies to begin with. Stick to standard scoring it's game-tested and approved.
My league
.25 -completion
1- 50 yards passing
4- passing td
.5- reception
1-10 yards rushing/receiving
-2-fumble or or interception
standard yahoo K and DEF scoring.
AND use fractional pts.
Having .25 completions makes games where a QB goes an efficient 23-27 for 240 but doesnt throw a TD score he can score 10.55 pts, which is more than say boller, who might go 10-32, for 130 yards and a TD, which equals 9.10 pts.
In my opinion, if you are a good fantasy player, it won't matter what the scoring system is, you should still be able to compete within an extent. Everybody gets unlucky, but If you know the system, you can adapt your rankings.
That said, I think that after this year (you can't do anything about this year, and if its a keeper, the changes will have to be gradual.) you should poll your owners. If they want a system that favors RBs as most systems do, give it to them.
It is a novel idea to balance your scoring so that a flex is really a flex, but don't screw with TE scoring too much. The position is so volatile in the NFL. Some teams use the TE and some teams don't, there is enough draft strategy already in the nature of the position, that you don't have to complicate it with helpful TE scoring.
ADMIN edit: please note that the overall sig limit is 12k - thanks! (Thanks Leber) AIM is like multiplayer notepad
QB 1 per 40yds to 240 - 1 per 20
RB 1 per 20yds rush/rec to 100 - 1 per 10
1 per 10yds pass
WR 1 per 20yds rec to 100 - 1 per 10
1 per 10 yds rush
1 per 10 yds pass
1 pt per 4 receptions
Pass TD's = 4
Rush/rec TS's = 6
I have been changing scoring rules for the last 3 years(since I took over) attempting to lessen the effect defenses have. They used to dominate the top scorers overall.
I personally like the bonus numbers after a certain point. Then those players can pull in extra points for a really good day.
Standard scoring is boring, I love the performance bonuses, keep it as it is, besides, you can't change it now, ride it out and make any necessary changes next year.

Yes. This is the problem, too many people just find a random cheat sheet on the net or in a magazine and draft from it, only to later realize during the first few weeks that the source was catered to a completely different form of scoring... Know your league scoring, boys and girls!

Were Gates and Gonzo first round picks in your league? TE has the biggest drop from studs to also-rans (yardage wise) and your league gives them a huge points per yardage advantage, so I could see that happening.
