Defenses/Spec. Tms. dominating?

Postby jdshaw30 » Thu Sep 29, 2005 11:31 am

I am wondering whether this is a quirk of my league, or if this phenomenon is occurring in everybody else's leagues as well: defenses are dominating!

20 of the top 30 "players" in my league are defenses/special teams. Is this occurring in your league? I'm in a 12-team auction keeper league, and I don't believe we changed any D/ST rules this year.

Our D/ST scoring is as follows:
1 pt per 10 yds - Kickoff & Punt ret. yds
1 pt per Sack
2 pts per - Fum. Rec., Int., Blk. FG, Blk. Punt, Blk. PAT, Safety
10 pts for 0 pts allowed
7 pts for 1-6 pts allowed
4 pts for 7-13 pts allowed
1 pt for 14-20 pts allowed
0 pts for 21-27 pts allowed
-1 pts for 28-34 pts allowed
-4 pts for 35-48 pts allowed
-7 pts for 49-99 pts allowed
6 pts for D/ST TDs (up to 10 TD in a game)

The 1 pt / 10 return yards is what is making things out of wack. In normal leagues you never see this. Even a bad defense is servicable because giving up 40 points isnt necessarily a bad thing. The more points you give up the more kickoffs you recieve and thus more return yards and points in the end.
