Brian Mitchell getting goalline carries?

kinda wondering myself why he was in there for a goal line carry. i cant see this happening every week.

I think he got one of those because Tiki came off two long runs.

I also wouldn't plan on seeing Brian Mitchell getting many goal line carries. Fasell is pretty free about relieving his backs for a play or two to get a breather, regardless of where they are on the field. Mitchell just happened to be the back at the moment. Tiki did very well this week and that touchdown would have got him my FFB game ball of the week if he got it. If anything Dayne has been the back of choice on short goal line situations, but he's fallen so low in Fasells dog house that he may never come out.

With RB Tiki Barber in need of a breather after rushing for 37 yards on the previous two plays, return specialist Brian Mitchell -- for whom playing running back had become almost an afterthought -- got the call on the 1-yard line Sunday in the Giants' 23-13 season-opening victory over the Rams.

Mitchell responded by scoring his first rushing TD since 1999. But it might not be his last.


"For what we do and what we're asking him to do, he's fine," coach Jim Fassel said yesterday at Giants Stadium. "He's got the right role. He'll back up on that short-yardage stuff."
