Carolina Defense? Overrated or Will They Get Better?

A lot of rankings had Carolina in the Top 10 for Defenses.

Right now, they are 23rd in my scoring system and only have 5 sacks (30th in the league with Houston and Washington having 4 sacks). Julius Peppers has zero sacks.

They look stout against the run and get TORCHED through the air (see Favre and McCown the last two weeks).

Do you think they were overrated to begin with? Or do you think that they'll improve or maybe that they'll stay crappy?

Personally I think people are underestimating McCown's potential. Maybe I'm totally wrong here, but I see McCown in next year's top 10 for QBs as long as Denny Green doesn't put Warner back in there in week 7.

Having said that, it doesn't shock me that McCown and Favre (arguably the best QB ever) beat up any defense.

I do think Carolina was severely overrated, but I don't think it's time to jump ship quite yet. They don't exactly have a great schedule though, as they only have about 5 soft games of the 11 remaining.

I vote no. If it looks like crap, and it smells like crap, it's crap. Besides, they hurt me for a few weeks now, and I want to vote against them out of spite.

I don't know about the rest of the year, but with next weeks matchup with Detroit I think they are a good play. They have been very stout against the run, and if they can shut down KJ, and put the game in Harrington's hands, that spells all kinds of points for the Panther D... Also don't forget, last weeks numbers for Carolina might have looked a bit better if that interception in the 4th could have been punched in for a TD... Maybe they shouldn't be started every week, but to me they seem like an opportunistic defense which can spell large fantasy points at times...

I have them and as of now I have decided to stick it out with them. Last week they gave me 15 points so I'll take that every week. I don't hink they'll ever live up to their preseason prediction but they should get better. They got plenty of playmakers, so they should pick it up.

Losing Kris Jenkins was a major blow. They are just not the same without that guy anchoring the line.

Well there's differents ways to play it. I like to take one and ride 'em out till the bye week, or an insane offense. That's just whats worked better for me in the past. But it is all how you feel comfortable. There are like 3 owners in my league playing rent-a-d so all the good ones get taken.
