depending on how your draft goes and how fast RB's are taken, DO NOT take him in the first with the 5th pick. He will be there definitly in the 2nd, possibly the 3rd if you have a high enough pick 1 or 2.
If you are targeting him, take a WR in the first. You will get anybody you want except Faulk, Green, Warner, and Alexander. That will give you a solid WR/RB combo. Look @ E. George

Q-Tip, your ears may be clean buy I think you need to clean your glasses. The question is, Is Deuce McAllister worth a 2.5 pick?

Realistically, you can expect to see 13-17 RBs gone by the end of Round 2 in a 12-team league. If you rate Deuce among the top 13 backs, and I certainly do, he is a good pick at 2.5. If Edgerrin James or Stephen Davis were still available at that point, I would take one of them, but that's me. Either way I consider that a good spot for drafting McAllister, and he will go higher than that in some drafts.

granted my leauge drafted a bit inexplicably (Champ Bailey in the 2nd round?), but I was able to get McAllister with a 4.8 in a 14 team league...
