I hear ya saundman - but the only true buy low candidate on the team that I feel comfortable endorsing right now is KJones - and even then Im a bit hesitant. Roy seems like the most logical target for Garcia as he seems to be the midrange possession target. KJohnson's less than 6 ypc doesnt exactly get the excitement going. CRog is supposed to be the deep ball specialist, and Garcia struggles with the deep ball. BMW could develop into a nice midrange target. Pollard will still get his looks. Basically its all up in the air, but if I had to guess, the QB change will do almost nothing for this offense, but if it does and they develop any type of passing attack, then its KJones who will get the biggest boost in production.
Garcia is a much better scrambling passer than Harrington... In fact, he's a much better scrambling passer than he is a pocket passer.... The Lions' line is awful.... So I see a lot of Garcia rolling out and hitting the short to mid range dump off pass right before he gets clobbered.... Those guys to me seem like:
Kevin Jones (who is not a great receiver)
Marcus Pollard (could see a nice boost in stats)
Mike Williams (could become Garcia's go-to guy)
For the gamble this thread is addressing, namely picking a possible go-to guy for a quarterback who is not even healthy yet, and may not even start when he is, I would pick up Mike Williams....

Are the WRs going to get off the line cleanly and run crisp routes and not drop passes? Now, dont get me wrong - an ounce of improvisation could probably improve the offense, and Garcia could bring that, but to expect an increase in stats from him is a bit premature.
Garcia was cleared to play today by team doctors, Mooch has stated that he will not commit to a change at QB.
Garcia and Harrington split snaps with the first team at practice today.
Like CBM said Garcia is not going to help the Lions. The O line is horrid and the playcalling is the only thing that rivals the O line here.

Still undecided as to who the starting QB will be this Sunday, but reports have Garcia looking more healthy than the coaching staff thought he would be. Garcia could very well end up starting this Sunday.
Joey Harrington will not be a Lion next yr unless something drastic happens.
I just traded D Stallworth for R Williams. I understand that Garcia may not be an improvement from QB but since the Detroit players have given up and turned on Harrington I feel that they will try a little harder to make sure Garcia succeeds/plays better. Could be the lift that brings a little confidence to the team. I think it just depends on the breaks. If things go their way early with Garcia then it could snowball into greater things or if Garcia goes out and bombs immediately then it will deflate the team even more.

well, Kevin Johnson was injured during the first drive, and that really helped your prediction quite a bit Id say Plinds - but then again, all successfull predictions have a degree of luck built into them, so it was still a good call.
Great W on the road for the Lions. The offense was down to their #4 WR (BMW), but soon enough, guys like Roy and CRog will return and that could really provide a nice spark. There were a few long passes thrown to guys like Scotty Vines on sunday that ended up incomplete - these were passes that seemed tailor made for guys like Roy and CRog who can go and get them or run just that much faster so that those incompletes turn into big plays. Garcia played well, he made some things happen, and as the WRs return, it will open up the running game as well. Defensively, the Lions lost Bly and Shaun Rogers on Sunday - two massive losses, but they are still playing as if they are a top 10 D. If the offense picks up steam as the WRs return, this team could be a playoff threat.
