This makes no sense. During the 60's and 70's, it was acceptable to call Asians gooks.

It wasn't OK to use that term in my house in the 60's and 70's, no one would have ever named their team that.

Just change the damn name already, it's so obviously racist.

You would think...

A high school in a town near where I grew up had the nickname the "Chinks" until the early 80s. I don't know anything about the origin of the term (the nickname is a different story) but I do know I wouldn't think of using 'chink' to reference anyone or anything.
