EDIT: he deleted his second post, probably a good move....

He wasn't the one who deleted it.

I apologize for all this nonsense. I felt these threads belonged somewhere else, and obviously he didn't like that very much. :-/

i guess he still doesn't like it very much....

I don't suppose you have data for the same time-span that has the # of
field goals
safeties
TDs
1 point conversions
2 point conversions?

NFL.com has all that data, albeit only back to 2001.

This isn't a prediction, this is historical.

Here's that plot you wanted matmat:

ya ya
i plotted it for myself. it's sort of neat how the plot oscillates... i am guessing that neighboring scores (19 & 20) for example have nearly the same probability of occuring but modified by a factor corresponding to the different number of (reasonable) ways each score can be achieved.

I can't believe that more teams scored 23 points than 28 points. Very interesting

Great reporting. Definitely interesting once you start looking into the numbers.

I'm guessing after the addition of the 2-pt conversion, the numbers aren't as profound as they were prior to that. It adds a whole new dimension to the scoring possibilities

If nothing else works out for him FOX or ESPN will give him a shot. I especially like the FOX predictions, they make me laugh. :-B
