Sadly, we are reminded this week that sports can spawn sick fan behavior -- and we're not just talking about fathers walking around Heinz Field in football helmets, drunk at 11 a.m. on a Sunday and generally devoting more time to their fantasy leagues than to their families.
No, we're talking about the real sickos, the ones who have defiled Tommy Maddox's property at his suburban home because he played badly in a football game. We're talking about the ones who are setting horrific examples for their children, a few of whom are making life difficult for Maddox's children.
Maddox's agent, ex-NFL player Vann McElroy, confirmed to the Trib's Joe Bendel that Maddox's two grade-school children were being hassled on the bus and at school on account of their father's four-turnover performance Sunday in a 23-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
At least we keep our thugs on the field and not in the stands... pretty pathetic....
