Playoffs week 14, 15 16?

Postby Steve-o » Sun Oct 23, 2005 11:14 pm

My league runs its playoffs during those weeks to avoid those players who may be resting for the "real" playoffs. I did an analysis of those RBs who have the best matchups during those weeks based on their opposition's run defense, their own teams ypc, and how easy it will be to trade for them. I also placed particular importance on week 14 and 15 because getting teh big game is the most important. Here are my results and I hope this helps you choose who to target. I would love to see if anyone has a "professional" link for this type of info as well. I also included some guys at the bottom end to try and trade away. Lower value is better.

Code: Select all
Team       RB              Def-Rank      Def Rank 14+15     Value
StL       S. Jackson      24                  27.5              13
Cin       R. Johnson      24.3                21.5               18
Hou      D. Davis         20                  18                 24
Ten      C. Brown         20.7                21.5               26
Oak      L. Jordan        20.3                28                 34
NYJ      C. Martin        22                  20.5               38
****
Bal       J. Lewis        15.7                 7.5               71
GB       A. Green         8.3                  10.5              86
Dal       J. Jones        8.0                  11.0              89
What do these years have in common?
1929, 1930, 1931, 1936, 1939, 1944, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1966, 1967, and 1996.

Towards the top is better. Lower total value is better.

Def-Rank is the average defensive rank against the run for the opponent of the RB for weeks 14, 15, and 16. Week 14+15 is the same only just for those two weeks. Like I said, I wanted to weight those games higher.

ex: St. Louis plays Min (ranked 32 of 32 against the run), Philly (ranked 23) and SF (ranked 17). Therefore Steven Jackson has a good schedule for week 14, 15, and 16.

That help?

I think that's what got me. It appears my J. Jones is the least favorable fantasy playoff RB in terms of Defenses faced in the entire league :-o

Uh oh :-D

Actually, I think JJ might be. Obviously JJ is still a better start then FWP in those weeks, plus a lot can change, but I did this just to get an idea of who might have tougher than expected or easier than expected schedules.

Here is the whole spreadsheet. I haven't figured out how to do the code thing in these formats yet, so that is why I didn't do the whole thing last night. It took my 20 minutes just to figure out the few I did do.

Code: Select all

S Jackson   24.0       27.5       Yes           13

if it comes down to it, you could also take a snap shot of what your currently doing (ctrl + print screen OR alt + print screen) and than edit it in paint. not too difficult and we can see the spreadsheet lines and have everything already oragnazied and easy to read.
