NFL says Saints may go to LA...

WASHINGTON - The Washington Post reports the NFL will consider relocating the Saints to Los Angeles if New Orleans is unable to recover from Hurricane Katrina.

The newspaper cites three sources familiar with the league's deliberation on the matter.

The Saints have been based in San Antonio since they were forced out of the Crescent City by the damaging August hurricane.

But the sources say the league has no interest in the Texas city as a permanent home for the club.

Los Angeles is the second-largest television market in the country and has been without an NFL team since the Raiders moved back to Oakland after the 1994 season

Cant say im surprised, but I feel for the City of NO.

Surprise, surprise...:-P

I'm sure that is what the owner of the Saints wants, but those fans that have stuck it out for this long through the playoff losing streak and no trips to the Super Bowl (other than hosting it) are going to be even more unhappy with this.

The Saints and their fans have had some very bad luck this year with the hurricane going through the area and the couple of questionable calls this year...this is another one. It's too bad they couldn't have waited until after the season to talk about this stuff.

Honestly though, how can LA not have a football team? It's 2nd largest market in the nation. If NO isn't a viable option anymore, it should go there. (I wonder if the team will keep it's name, . . . Saints in the city of Angels).

It sucks for New Orleans not to have football, but not as much as it sucks being underwater with no local economy.

If they are smart, it won't be Haslett coaching and Sport Goofy at QB after the move. I wonder if LA is actually excited about getting the Aints.

sport goofy. that's classic.
man, screw L.A. (that's los angeles, not louisiana). Build a freakin stadium and then we'll talk about an NFL franchise. I think Oklahoma City should get the saints. OKC already got the hornets why not make it 2 for 2? I don't know where they would end up playing. OU is a big enough and nice enough facility, but the town isn't and they can't sell beer at the stadium there. So, OKC isn't a viable option. Oh well, just don't send them to L.A.

They really should keep the team in the South IMO. I'm sure Alabama or Mississippi would welcome them in. It's not like they are moving because it wasn't a good city for a team. It's just that now there is no city. They shouldn't move the team too far from the fans.

California already has enough teams, don't send them another one.

I'd say Saints owner Tom Benson who spent 42 gazillion dollars for the franchise has something to say about that (Los Angeles).
As well as the State of Louisianna and their huge investment.
And the fans.

LA wouldn't support either the Rams or the Raiders, and don't deserve a team.
Market share be damned.

If Benson bails on New Orleans - at least the name should stay.
Like the Browns.

My 2 cents.
