THE NEWS
How about a Ciatrick Fason one-yard touchdown plunge? The Vikings rookie running back has been limited to special team duties thus far, but is expected to be the team's short-yardage back this Sunday against the Lions, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Fason will likely play in place of injured running back Moe Williams, who has not practiced this week because of back and knee ailments and is listed as doubtful.
Our View
Whether "short-yardage" includes carries at the stripe is unclear, however, short yardage and goal line carries (what few there have been) are the domain of Williams. Without Moe or Daunte Culpepper to punch it across from the one, Fason could have his number called. If you are desperate for a running back this week in a touchdown-only league, include Fason on your short list of alternatives because chances are good that he's available.
