comissioner question

Postby thechill » Fri Oct 04, 2002 3:44 pm

do I allow this trade as a comissioner.
league can veto with enough votes

scoring is
1 point per 10 yrd rush/rec
1 point per 25 yrd pass
6 point TD's
.5 per completion
1pt per rec

team A: gives
Tiki Barber
Drew Bledsoe

team b: gives
Garcia
R Williams

Team b is in last place.
This is a money league

rosters:
Team A:8th place
manning/bledsoe
harrison/pathon/horn/thrash/mccardell/q morgan/willie jackson
barber/e smith/m bennett/william green

Team B:
Garcia/colling
R Williams/Alstott/Dayne/jamal Lewis
R Smith/mccaffrey/gonzo/jimmy smith

both teams are 0-4 the only difference is total points. In normal leagues this would be unfair, but with points for completions and rec. it is a little closer.

Should I veto this or just wait and let the league decide?

I think you should let the guys decide for you, the trade looks fair and balanced, the difference is who needs the upgrade in RB or QB position, and they are doing bad, if they are in those places so I think you should let them do it.

Its not cheating

I don't think you should ever examine a trade as a commisioner as to whether or not you would personally do it (viewing it from both sides). As commisioner you should try to detect collusion. There also may be cases where you have to protect your league from irresponsible stupidity, but that would have to be pretty blatant. In this case it looks to me like no one is trying to cheat. I would go ahead and allow the trade.

On the face of it, this deal doesn't seem to be unfair. If you have a reason to suspect collusion, that's different, but this appears to be an honest trade where two people simply have different opinions about the values of several players.
