Although they are not exactly in the same capacity I think Berman is not nearly as bad as Dan Deirdorf. I have often had to resort to the radio broadcast when he is calling a game. He just goes on and on and on and on. And I always hate announcers that tell me what a player is thinking and the reason why they did something on the field. Don't insult my intelligence by trying to pretend that you know what a player on the field is thinking.

Like Popeye said ... "I yam what I yam."
Berman is Berman. Thats the way he is. You can take it or leave it.
He cracks me up with some of his stuff, but not as much now as he used to. Still waiting for a nickname for Matt Jones.
Don't let this stuff bother you ... it's not that big of a deal :-]

I can easily name 10 football announcers that annoy me more than Berman.

Berman may not be a football maven, but he's never pretended to be. He's fun, he's jovial, and he's about as non-offensive as you get. Sure, a little gimmicky and cookie-cutter-ish, but compare him to the guys who do the same job as him.

The ESPN guys are easily more watchable than any other group of studio announcers on tv... period.

Yeah, I'm not the biggest Berman fan in the world either. He doesn't drive me crazy, but yeah it's tired and old.

Put my vote on the side of the people that like Berman. To me he just seems to love sports and tries to dress it all up. Some of these former players, well it's so obvious which teams they like and don't like. That's irritating to me.. Chris just seems so impartial. And that's probably why I like his reporting much more than most.
