email and reply from my commish

Postby NorCalChief » Tue Nov 08, 2005 11:20 pm

Here is my email to my commish. I was going head to head with him week 9.

1. You added Finneran from the FA list on game day, Nov 6 at 12:29pm then inserted him in your week 9 line up. He had been playing 2 -½ hours at the time of your transaction.
2. I started Chatman but Parker ended up in my line up for week 9.
Please explain
.

This is a yahoo custom league, this guy is the commissioner....

His reply:

I dropped Cadillac (who was on the bench), added Finneran to my team at 12:30, and inserted him into what should have been my week 10 lineup. Last night, however, I notcied the same thing as you did, that for some reason Yahoo added him to my week 9 line up instead of the guy that I already had in there (Stallworth). I emailed the Yahoo comissioner this AM and am waiting for him to get back to me. Obviously Finneran had already been playing for the day, so it shouldn't have been possible for him to get into my week 9 line up, and I am guessing that there must have been some kind of technical error via the Yahoo system (essentially I am just as clueless as you are to how this happened). As far as Chapman, I have no idea, and I will email them again for that I had the same situation in week 7 where I switched Torry Holt (who was hurt that week) for Lee Evans, got the conformation, and ended up still having Holt in my line up for week 7. In that situation, the point difference b/t the two really didn't matter, so I figured "oh well what the heck", but now if this has happened a second time, something must be wrong with the system. In conclusion, I appoligize for the mix up and am currently working on getting it fixed. If you know of a way that I can edit this problem myself, than please let me know and I will fix it ASAP, otherwise I will have to wait for the Comissioner to get back to me. I will let you know as soon as I hear anything. Thanks, and good luck the rest of the season.

Sounds to me like he is being a stand-up guy about it but I would have to see what Yahoo! does/says in the email when they reply...

Is he friends with the Commish?

I have had a league the past two years where we have been able to add people during the games on Sunday. They have always showed up the next week. Something smells fishy.

The reply sounds sincere...either this guy is being honest and stand-up about it or he's a really good liar! In the Yahoo rules, doesn't it state that if you pick up a player after his game has already begun, he will only be allowed in your line-up the next week? Yahoo must have had a really bad technical glitch for this to happen....not totally unheard of, but still kinda strange.
Doesn't it suck to get beat at Fantasy Football...by a girl?

It's a nice lie, but who putzes around with their next week lineup while that week's games are going on?

Also, if he did it the first time and spotted a problem, why did he do it again?

If it's a true glitch, he was trying to pull a fast one and hope you didn't notice probably.

I have never had a problem, but I have been guilty of changing future lineups during games. It's not a big deal, and it shouldn't affect anything, but it sounds as if it did in this case.

Make sure you see the Yahoo response e-mail to confirm his story. I guess he could always change that to say what he wants it to, but at least now he knows he can't get away with anything.

Sounds really fishy.

In fact, I have tried to do WW work on a Sunday while games are going on. It's very hard to do, but one way you can do it is by swapping out players that are on your bench and not playing.

In those cases, they ONLY show up for your roster in future weeks. This is a Yahoo public, not custom league.

I honestly don't think it was a "technical glitch". If it was, then it was the first time he did it, but by round 2, he knew what he was doing. The fact he got caught at it, to me, is the only thing that made him pause.

I do. I watch the games on TV, while scoring my team (with a pencil cause i'm cheap and it's free) and looking at bye week issues, spot starts, etc on my laptop.

I hope that's ok with you, but you're welcome to insult me anyway... :-P

Also, if you read carefully, the first time he had a problem, it was not his problem, it was the problem the other guy had. So the commish has not repeated a problem, but had two problems, one of which was the same as the problem of the guy posting....

I emailed this to him this mornig

(I'm quoting him in my reply) "In conclusion, I appoligize for the mix up and am currently working on getting it fixed. If you know of a way that I can edit this problem myself, than please let me know and I will fix it ASAP, otherwise I will have to wait for the Comissioner to get back to me."

*, cut the bullshit. YOU are the commissioner.*

Yes, I know a way you can fix it. Go to your commissioner tools and select EDIT ROSTERS. Place Antonio Chatman as a starter for my team and Stallworther for yours for week 9.

After that read the section on Fair Play & Sportsmanship.

and his reply....

what is with all of the hostility man, I actually find it quite rude that you think I cheated. untill you just told me, I had no idea how to even edit the rosters of other teams. Finneran was supposed to be added to the week 10 roster not the week 9 roster. And the commissioner that I am talking about is the Yahoo sports commissioner (the one who sends you all of the notices about trades and stuff and also manages all of the leagues.) Thanks for letting me know how to fix the problem, I will do it today after I get done with classes.

I assumed since he had been in the commissioner tools to edit the points system and the draft order prior to the season, that knew how to edit rosters too.

I find it hard to beleive he didn't know this.

I'd imagine you're in the minority. Most are too obsessed with what's currently going on. Picking up a hot player I can see, but worrying about the next week's games while the current ones are going?

As for doing your stats with a pencil, being cheap is a virtue to some. Whatev...
