Anything wrong with losing on purpose?

We use a system similar to the NBA and NHL lottery. The teams that do not make the playoffs get thrown into a hat. Each of the teams that do not make the playoffs have the same chance of getting the first pick. This way there are not people tanking games to get the first pick. Although we have a real good group so there is no reason for any of us to tank games. If this were the case in a league I was in, it would probably be my last season.

Who wants to play in a league where someone has had enough half way through the season and gives up? It is not fair to the rest of the teams and I wouldn't stand for it.

I have always fought just because giving up just ends the fun. I like the challenge of looking over the WW for the next sleeper. Then again, I've always have competitive teams.

Pull names from a hat each year like we do. Doesn't matter where you finished the year before.

Our league is so competitive even the bad teams like to play spoiler!

I think it's a pretty shady thing to do... All you succeed in doing by taking this route is ensure that all of your remaining opponents have an unfair advantage over everyone in the league who doesn't have you remaining on the schedule...

As such, if I was someone in your league competing for a playoff spot, and I didn't have you left on my schedule while you were busy tanking games, I might be forced to hunt you down like a dog and disembowel you....

I vented my frustration with letting a team tank (i was against it) last year and everyone got all upset with me and defended the guy doing it. Now I just let it go and if they want to tank, enjoy... Just sux that someone might get into the playoffs that doesn't really deserve to be there simply because they played the tanking team towards the end. That's not right.

I like playing the spoiler too much to tank. If I'm 5-8 and I take out a guy that's 9-4 to make that team miss the playoffs then I'm a happy camper. It doesn't make up for a terrible year but the off season is fun.

Not cool. As Catch22 made a point, he should start looking for ways to build for next year. keeper wise. But he should also be fielding the best players on his roster. I for one am doing just that in one of my leagues, but I for one refuse to go out the stooge.

Only in weeks against teams like yourself who don't have a prayer of making the playoffs.

That being said, it should only be through in-team managing. Don't tank your team by dumping all your talent onto the WW and letting someone mop up.

Not if you're in my league. Go ahead and lose for all I care...

But seriously, I wouldn't respect that. You should always put your best foot forward and try to win.
