How do I get them to look transparent? I've been all over my Paint Shop Pro 8 and can't find that tool... The closest I can find is my clone brush.

Change the opacity in the "layer pallette" and/or use the blending options (also in the layer pallette)

BTW-which tool are you using to cut out pix?

Ok... I'll see how that works.

I usually use the lasso tool and then either clone it on or direct copy paste...

I hear that most of you use layers to make sigs... but I don't understand that stuff one bit...

Does anybody have a PSP8 tutorial that explains things like layers... transparency... or any other basics I should know?

try this.

not sure exactly how you're doing the whole clone thing but when you use the lasso which option are you using? What I find that works best for cutting out images is "point to point" with anti-alias checked and feather at 1, also set the pointer to precision (look in tool options for these settings, much have lasso tool selected).

Then just cut or copy and then go to edit > paste as new layer (there's one layer)

Think of layers as transparent sheets of paper
