Did Lewis actually say he'd break the record?
This is what Lewis said:
"Andra told me he wanted me to get the ball 30 times,'' Lewis said. "I told him if I get the ball 30 times it's going to be a career day."
Another quote: JL: I was on the phone with couple of friends of mine. Andra Davis is one of them. He told me - he was just talking trash - he told me he wanted me to get the ball 30 times because I wouldn't get 100 yards. I told him, "Hey. if I get it 30 (times) it would be a career day."
That's a HUGE difference. He said he'd have a career day, not break the single game rushing record. A career day just means his best day as a pro, not the best single game by any RB ever.
Semantics, perhaps. But it's very shoddy journalism.
