Lewis DID NOT predict he'd break Dillon's record!!!!

OK. This is annoying me.

Did Lewis actually say he'd break the record?

This is what Lewis said:

"Andra told me he wanted me to get the ball 30 times,'' Lewis said. "I told him if I get the ball 30 times it's going to be a career day."

Another quote: JL: I was on the phone with couple of friends of mine. Andra Davis is one of them. He told me - he was just talking trash - he told me he wanted me to get the ball 30 times because I wouldn't get 100 yards. I told him, "Hey. if I get it 30 (times) it would be a career day."

That's a HUGE difference. He said he'd have a career day, not break the single game rushing record. A career day just means his best day as a pro, not the best single game by any RB ever.

Semantics, perhaps. But it's very shoddy journalism.

I agree. The story is much bigger if they claim that he "called it".

On a technicality though the story would still be correct by labeling it "Called it!" because it was his career day so he did call that.. it just so happens that his career day is not the single game record.

I agree though if all he "called" was a career day then the media is out of hand because I thought he actually called the record.

Yes, he correctly predicted a career day. That was not my beef.

He DID NOT predict he'd break the record.

Yeah, I noticed this also. But whether he said he would break the record or not, he still had the best game for a RB ever.

There is a column at CNN/SI that says the same thing today.
