What is the Lombardi award for?

What is this award for? i was watching ESPN and on the bottom line and it said the award was for best linemen. when it showed the finalists however, aj hawk and one other linebacker whos name i cant remember(the one from PSU) were both finalists.

The PSU linebacker is Paul Pousluzny (sp?) there is also the Butkus Award for best LB and the Outland Trophy for best lineman.

Yeah when i said Hawk might win both awards, i was referring to the Lombardi and the Butkus. The awards are one of the things that makes me like college football over pros.
