lock playoff rosters??

anyone do this - no waivers after the playoffs start? kinda forces every team to carry 2 d's, k's and te's, not to mention, if say, SA goes down, arent you kind of entitled to at least try to get maurice morris (just for example)?

i'm for a system where the eliminated team's rosters are locked, but i was just wondering if anyone out there has encountered something like this...

Yes, my leagues do lock their rosters once the playoffs start. There is a cost for free agents, so it makes our pot grow a little with people picking up back-ups just in case, they may never use them but it cost them money to pick em up.

no, my leagues don't lock rosters. Which I think is fine as long as loosers don't start dumping their rosters. In that case the comish needs to step in and prevent pickups. I think you should be able to compensate your roster as the playoffs progress.

I don't like locked rosters. What happens if a guy gets hurt or something? Have the trade's end around week 10 but I wouldn't like having a locked team for 3 weeks.

Our league's rosters are locked once playoffs start. Our playoffs also start Week 13 to avoid any "benching-for-playoffs" drama in Week 17. I think that if a player went down due to injury, our commish would let us pick someone up to make it fair...of course, it could only be a player in the same position.

The purpose behind locking rosters when the playoffs start is to keep the eliminated teams from dropping stud players to the wire, that can then be picked up by teams still in contention... And I agree that this practice should be prevented, but the way to go about it is to lock the rosters of the teams which do not make the playoffs or are eliminated... There is no reason why playoff teams should not be able to pick up waiver wire guys over the course of the playoffs....

My league locks as well. Our trade deadline just passed, which stinks, cause I have 4 starting backs and will start the wrong one every week!

Yeah, I'm in a lock-down league as well. Worse yet, it's a bloated, 40-team league* with a 'March Madness' style, everyone in the playoffs bracket starting this week.
With the bottom 16 teams playing 8 'play-in' games for next week's start of a 32-team bracket, we get one more week before rosters lock.

*No, it's not 40 teams in one draft ... we have four 10-team conferences, each with their own draft.
