I was about to make the Metcalf comparison myself. He'll be an explosive player, but unless he lands on a team with a fantastic offensive line, I'm not sure he's going to be a guy that can consistently run between the tackles.

Truth.

I think the Eric Metcalf comparison is accurate. He will be a good kick/punt returner, and a good 3rd down/change of pace back.

I disagree, I think Maroney is eons behind both Bush and DeAneglo Williams. I don't think that it is strictly the system in Minnesota, but it is at least partly the system. He is a decent back, but he is a couple of levels below Bush and Williams.

Maroney is a pretty good RB, but he is no Reggie Bush. That guy has got the type of natural talent that you just don't see in the draft every year.

The question is, how will that talent translate to the NFL RB position? He could be a Mike Vick/Antonio Gates type player, where they have to "invent" a new position for the guy to play. Keep him in the backfield, split him out wide, put him in the slot. You have to believe that he will not be the typical 20 carry RB in the NFL.

Brian Westbrook comparisons are probably the closest.

He needs to be at about 210 pounds. This is easily within reach. His transition should be pretty smooth unless he winds up on a team with an attrotious offensive line. His ceiling is really high, like Marshall Faulk potential; and his floor is probably an above average starting back. I'd say this is pretty good.
The facts have no meaning.

why would the texans draft a RB when they just gave Dom Davis a 5 year 25 million odd dollar extension THIS YEAR???

Somehow i think OLine will be the pick in round 1 and WR in round 2, then they probably take another RB in round 3 (That has been their tradition since inception)

Seriously, Reggie Bush is going to redefine what an nfl running back is all about. When you look at guys like Shaun Alexander and Edgerrin James types (currently) you see great pure runners that serve their purpose better than you could hope for. But when Marshall Faulk came into the league, for example, he was of a different calibre. He was dangerous as a runner, but offered another dimension to the game. The same can be said of LT with his multiple talents. When you look at the most dangerous NFL backs, it is those complete tailbacks with multiple abilities that inflict pain in the opposition. It is in this same way that reggie bush will create absolute havoc on opposing defenses. Forget about his size. He's 21 years old and stands at like 6'0 200lbs - he's no small dude. If you have ever watched a USC game (and no I dont even like USC), then you would see how unbelievable his shiftiness and moves are. Give him the ball, and he has the potential to take it to the house every time.

Maroney does not even compare to Bush in terms of talent or potential. Maroney is a great back though, just like Edge or Jamal Lewis for example (good running backs), but he does not possess the home-run ability of Bush (or not to the same extent anyway). Besides, the best running back in this draft is DeAngelo Williams. But that does not take away from the fact that Bush is the best player, with the ability to help a team in any situation, at any time. That is why he is so valuable.
