I like Sunday NFL Countdown. Everyone on the show fills their roles nicely. TJ and Steve give quality opinions and insight into the games, while Berman is there to entertain and keep the show moving along. Irvin is there to keep things light and be a foil to Steve Young. If Irvin wasn't there, you would just have Steve Young and TJ agreeing on every issue, and that's not very entertaining.
Monday NFL Countdown is a different story, though. I like Stu Scott, but Jaws is hardly Steve Young, and Berman does a good job of getting to the next segment when Irvin gets out of control, while Stu has a tendency to let the discussion degrade into shouting.
Also, you have to think about the audience. Not every person who watches the show is as knowledgable about the game as we are here at the Cafe. There are plenty of people that just want to see what the guys have to say about their favorite team and watch highlights from the previous week. For people who want real, in-depth analysis, there's always EA Sports Matchup!!
i like irvin...he stirs things up....and believe it or not, he does know what he's talking about most of the time....i think they encourage him to be the joker of the show....
also, did anyone catch that 6th grade tie irvin was wearing?
Week in Week out all he does is defend TO on sunday morning, him and TO should go rent out a hotel room together and next morning go public with what went on between them that night....

Yeah...like this:
Irvin: "Man, you are the greatest!"
T.O.: "Yeah, I know, but you're the sh** too man"
Irvin: "You're right, but I still think you're the bizzomb!"
T.O.: "Damn straight...now lets have a contest on who can do the most sit-ups while doing an interview."
Doesn't it suck to get beat at Fantasy Football...by a girl?

That's what I was thinking immediately. CBS has the worst pregame show by far.\

Way to keep it clean, I was seeing this story line go down a much different road.

Isn't Irvin the one who started the whole "Brett Favre would make the Eagles unbeatable" garbage that set TO off and got him canned? BTW, if it was Irvin, maybe he should try actually watching a couple of Packer games the last couple of years. He might change his mind.
I'm a Steelers fan and I like him better than most guys. I would much rather listen to him than anyone calling games...especially the ESPN crew. MUTE is a great button!
