Either way, you lost me.

No - Im saying that you cannot look at the numbers and say which one is more "talented". If you try and draw conclusions to each players abilities from the statistics you would be guessing. People who watch them play would tell you with much more accuracy each players strengths and weaknesses - thats the entire point.

Only two things are necessary to point out.

1) Joe Namath, not Peyton Manning is the most overrated QB of all time.

2) Peyton Manning is a lot like Troy Aikman. Yeah, he's got great talent around him, but you can't knock his performance because of it. Until that talent deteriorates, you have to assume Peyton Manning is as good as published.

Did you guys see Jim Sorgi's stats in week 17 last year? It's the system people, it's the system.

josebach wrote:-NFL Record single season QB Rating

That says it all right there. Screw the six seasons of 4000+ passing yards, screw the TD record, their is no one statistic other than the QB Rating that encompasses more about how effective a QB is. And even the most celebrated effective QBs, like Joe Montana, and Steve Young, weren't able to put up performance he has.

This is not just a guy who throws the ball alot and inflates his stats. He threw 5 TDs for every turnover he made last year. a 2:1 ratio is good, a 3:1 godly, 5:1 is just obscene. If Montana can become one of the greats playing catch with the indisputed best WR ever, Manning can easily be ranked amongst that group playing with a star WR and star RB each of whom may not even be hall of fame worthy.

He's not overrated, he is the best QB in the NFL currently hands down, and will finish his career in serious contention as the best QB of all time. It's hard to overrate that.

Anyone that claims to know a lot about the position of quarterbacking, and then says that Peyton is overrated should be shot on the spot.

Wow, the starter of this thread must be on crack.

Or heroin.

Or LSD.

Or a combination of all three.

Nice work, Shader. Wow, look at how quickly everyone rushed to the defense of Manning. Not quite as fast as in the SA-is-overrated thread.

I think the people on heroin, crack, and LSD are the ones who took this post at face value.

LOL, that's exactly what I said after that game. It was in jest, but it's funny that someone would say the exact same as me.

Anyone that thinks Manning is over-rated needs to leave football and fantasy football for good. You obviously have no hope for ever making sense.
