Frank Solich Convicted of Drunk Driving

Postby knapplc » Tue Nov 29, 2005 12:24 pm

This is too bad about Frank. When he was ousted by Nebraska there were all kinds of rumors as to the "real" reason he was let go. Rumors included drinking, fathering a child with a mistress, dereliction of his coaching duties, etc. It seemed like people wanted to find another reason since he'd just completed a 9-3 season, bouncing back from 7-7 the previous year.

I don't think this incident is indicative of Solich's personality, nor do I believe all of the rumors about why he was "really" fired from Nebraska, but after seeing this you have to wonder...

I dont plan on saying much about this. I never heard anything negative about his character while he was at NU. However I didnt know him personally, although I've spoken with players that he coached and none gave any indication that there was anything to be suspicious of, so I cant say what kind of problems he may have had. This is definitely sad for him, his family, the Husker and Bobcat families, and also this gives Pederson a reason to have a wry, "I know what I'm doing!" smirk on his face. Finally, shame on Solich for doing it. A 60-year old should know better you would think.

I wouldn't go that far. Frank made a big mistake, and may have been hiding a drinking problem from us Husker fans for a while, but just because he's got a skeleton or two in his closet doesn't mean that Stevie P is any better than he was when he fired Frank.

I think it's just really, really sad. :~(

i have heard about the illegitimate child before...and heard he was a bit of a boozer. it is a sad situation, i thought the guy was a class act. i think i'd still rather have him than that bozo callahan.

why is Callahan a Bozo as you so eloquently put it? He seems like a decent guy and a good head coach. The players have had nothing but positive things to say about him the last 2 seasons. Yes he had a rough stint in Oakland but the pro game and the college game are very different....just ask Steve Spurrier.

Remember, Moonie is a Sooner. He's still got a bee in his bonnett over that "F**king hillbillies" comment from last year's game. It's all good fun. ;-D
