Big Ben also hurt his thumb and cant throw over 40 yds. Granted, he usually doesnt throw over 40 yds anyway, his passing skills are greatly diminished becasue of the injury. Yes, he threw for 386 I believe, but he also had three picks. He said it himself, he cant throw a tight spiral.

I don't know why, Irishboy. I am torn on this issue. I need Ward to score a TD. I know that DaBears are going to be tough to do much with, but that means the Stillers will need to throw some. Big Ben's injury didn't seem to keep him from tossing tow TDs to Ward last week, so I don't know that he won't still get his.

Ward is great but he's hit & miss even when everything is going great for the Steelers. Things aren't going great for the Steelers. The Steelers haven't been able to run the ball like they're used to, Big Ben is all banged up (throwing hand among other things), and they're facing the #1 D in the league.

With all this said, everyone knows that Ward COULD still have an awesome day. Noone knows for sure what will happen on gameday. He's probably not listed as a "no-brainer" or "others" to start because there are a lot more WR's who, on paper, have a better chance of putting up big #'s this weekend. It doesn't mean that he won't put up big #'s because the games aren't played on paper. Was Lee Evans a "no-brainer" last week? Did anyone sit LT2 the week he had like 1 point vs Philly? No to both.

Week to week you just never know what will happen. Ward could end up having a great week but the chances are low. Another thing that's going against Ward is that most people I've talked to think this game should be very low scoring. Pitt. has a good D and Chicago doesn't have a strong O. Chic. has a very strong D and Pitt. hasn't had a strong O lately. I've heard some of the "experts" on TV say that they think this game will be a battle of FG's just for these reasons.

Who knows? Might turn out to be a shootout. Doubtful, but possible.

I agree with Flotsam. Ward has games where he catches 2 TDs, then goes on long cold streaks where he barely catches any balls, and it's not really his fault. It all depends on if the balls get thrown his way. There are games where it seems Ben doesn't even look for him. Ward's fantasy value is a pretty good #2 WR or an awesome flex player.
