Why does Phil Simms keep making excuses for Eli?

Simms is a great color announcer. He said the Chiefs were not playing with intensity because for the most part, they weren't!! I have NEVER seen that many missed tackles in my life!!! The Chiefs offense was fine although they couldn't get the passing game on track. As usual, the Chiefs D lets them down. When Tiki had 174 yards, 126 of them were AFTER first contact. That is pathetic tackling. As far as Eli goes, this is his first full season!! He is going to have growing pains and the important thing is he comes up with the big plays on 3rd downs and late in the games. I do have to say that the Chiefs got really screwed on those personal fouls though!! The refs can't make those calls in a close game with that much on the line!!! By the way, why are most of the refs old farts????!!! They can't even get into good position on some of the plays, but, that is another story for another thread. Go Big Blue.
