Still, stormtroopers were supposed to be the best of the best. Even had a big academy on Carida that was supposed to be like the equivalent of graduating from Westpoint or something. And the 501st clone trooper regiment that Vader used to wipe out the Jedi Temple is supposed to have continued to exist afterwards, except that the regiment was now filled with stormtroopers instead of clones. Supposed to have the reputation of being the best stormtrooper regiment in the Empire. So much for consistency, huh?
In any case, Lucas kinda screwed up a lot of little details like that with his prequels.

If you do a prequel, you will more than likely screw something up. I'm a Trekkie and Enterprise screwed up a lot of Star Trek "history" and I'm worried about the new movie. doing the same.
Sporting events are family events. If you can't watch your language for 3 hours then stay home.

How's that for geeky?
you know what else i love? the fact that they have all this armor on. apparently can't see out of the helmets that provide no protection. because a whack on the head from an ewok and a stormtrooper is out cold. why wear all that stuff if it doesn't do any good? the elite red guard was the coolest, though.

Well, tbhere are a number of things that I must address. First of all, the fact is many of the generic stormtroopers were crap. Legions like the 501st were EXTREMELY efficient and deadly. So that is where the Ben Kenobi reference comes from. Secondly, the stormtrooper armour, unlike the phase two clone trooper armour(episode 3) was designed to deflect blunt trauma, shrapnel, some explosives and glancing blaster hits. The helmet was a weak spot because it housed a lot of the advanced componetry. Also, the Imperial guards(red guys) where probably the closest thing the emperor had to dark jedi defenders. They were skilled fighters trained by handpicked former fighters of the emporer.(they are bested by skilled jedi and the droid body guards of general grievous)
Thats just a brief run down.

the emperor had dark jedi. "the emperor's hands". like mara jade. they weren't completely trained, but they were force sensetive/novices. they were closer to jedi than were the imperial guard.

I know that. But in the strictest sense, they weren't his body guards. The hands and other dark side adepts(Ie jerec, gorc, yun) were minions in a sense. They did his bidding and didn't really defend him as bodyguards
