You have to assume at this point he will be back and at best for LJ there will be an RBBC approach next season. If something comes out later that changes this, fine. But this is asking who would be top 5 for next season as of right now, and right now Priest is still a KC Chief and I don't like those odds.

1-2) SA/LT (This will flip-flop all over)
3) Edge
4) Tiki
5) Caddy

Of course as was previously stated, this can change drastically depending on what happens with Edge and SA, but as of now, assuming they stay put, this is my list.

Maybe everyone is upset at the mid-season injury woes that Caddy endured, but he started with a bang and finished that way...in the playoffs when you need him. Next year will likely only get better and has to get top 5 consideration at this point.

I feel strongly that Priest is going to retire. Even if he doesn't I think he will fill Johnson's roll going into this year and Johnson will be the clear #1 back.

I'll take Rudi over Caddy any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I'll take Portis and Jordan over Caddy easily as well. Depending on how things play out there are probably several other backs I would take before him as well.

This does seem pretty early to be making these lists, but I will go ahead and throw mine out there.

1. SA - He plays behind the best left side in football, with a QB that can keep defenses honest, against one of the worst divisions, and he never gets hurt *knock on wood*
2. LT - He is still the most versatile guy out there. The only knock on him is that Schottenheimer doesn't use him enough. It seems that he is no longer the lone focal point in the offense now that Gates and Brees have emerged as pro-bowl players.
3. Barber - He has put together two stellar seasons now, and the NYG offense this year is starting to look a lot like the Cincinnati offense last year.
4. Edge - He is the next best thing to LT in terms of do-it-all ability. That type of player can strive on any team, should he not be with the Colts next year (see LT before Brees or Gates emerged).
5. LJ - LJ in 2006 is like Priest in 2005 to me. Everything seems to be in place for a great season, but there are still a lot of question marks. How healthy can an aging offensive line stay? How effective can the passing game be with Green, Gonzo, and Kennison all getting older? What role will Priest have in the offense? Will Vermeil hang it up, and what impact will that have on the team? If there is a phrase that always comes up in my head when I think about him (or Priest) it's "Leagues can't be won in the first round of the draft, but they sure can be lost".

Anyways, I will admit that LJ could certainly climb up this list (probably not past #3) if Vermeil stays, Priest doesn't, and Roaf buys a time machine, but we won't know about any of that for a long time.

If Morris were announced the starter, I think he'd be a 3rd-4th rounder. He has proven nothing. He might be injury prone, he might struggle at short-yardage and lose carries to Mack Strong..who knows?

The real question is if Reggie Bush will be a top ten pick.

Only if you like losing your fantasy football league.

Hey Shader, would you like to join my league next year? We have an opening...

Nah i'm just playing man but no he will not be a top 10 pick next year (in fantasy)

just curious where do you guys think bush will be drafted in fantasy leagues.....i know it is extremely too early but just for conversation sake where would u rank him?

Nope. Roaf will be back. Even if Shields retires and Vermeil moves on, do you really think that the Chiefs will suddenly go from a top five rushing team to garbage?

Cornbread Maxwell wrote:I honestly think you guys ranking LJ as high as you are right now without considering the serious OLine issues KC has

I don't know what O-Line issues they really have. People are making a much bigger deal about it than warranted. They have the #4 rushing attack AND Roaf missed a chunk of time...what were the problems this year?

Yeah, they are getting older...so is every team.

Absolutely - I feel that coaching and systems have a large impact on the product on the field. It would concern me if I had LJ because of the potential change. Im not saying this will happen - but could it? Of course.

We'll see - maybe you are right - but its something that needs to be looked into more closely. If they do lose Shields and Roaf, Id think it would have a rather large impact.

you gotta have edge in there. I also don't see how you can have LJ 3rd, he is pretty much a guarrantee for 100 yards and 1-3 TDs every week...

I can't imagine Deuce McAllister in the top 5 fantasy picks in no way shape or form. He is a good player who could be a dominating force, but he will be coming back from a major surgery with a new coach and QB in place.

The Saints will surely struggle again next year to compete in that division. There are lots of holes they need plugged. If they nab Leinart (which they should really try for), get a decent coach in there, get some defensive stability with said coach, and if Stallworth continues to improve at the WR slot, they can be playoff caliber in 3 years (see Cincinnati's formula).

No love for Clinton Portis??? Everybody was so down on him this year. I got him late in the 2nd round in both my leagues and was very happy with his performance. He is currently ranked 6th among RB's in standard yahoo scoring behind SA, LT, LJ, Barber, and Edge.
