yup plus i want to be able to take it offsite. It is for backing up confidential client files, and when its full it needs to go to a safe deposit box, in case of fire, blah blah blah....

I've been seeing more and more of those "Pen" hard drives that plug into any USB port. Some of them are getting pretty large but the really big ones (More than 1 Gig) are really really expensive.

really can't beat a seagate. they are reliable, not to bad on price and come with a 5 year warranty. the warranty alone is worth the money.

i don't know how much storage you need...but the usb keys are really becoming inexpensive and able to store an incredible amount of data.

but if you're set on a hard drive...stay away from maxtor...had nothing but trouble with them. they're cheap, and you get what you pay for. seagates are tough to beat. ibm always made a great hard drive...i don't know if they make an external HD.

here is newegg's list of external drives.

just fill in seagate under the manufacturer. looks like the external only carries a 1 year warrnaty but i would still recommend going with a seagate.

western digital was a solid drive. i'd say on par or just a little below a seagate. ;-D
