how can i make a very simple black border like a lot of ppl have for their sig?

-Make a new layer on top of your final picture, then select the rectangular marquee tool,

-Then (what I do) zoom too 200%,

-Make sure that the left of the marquee "cross" is touching the left side of the sig, and the bottom of the "cross" is on the bottom of the sig, then click and drag to the top right so that the top of the cross is touching the top part of the sig, and so the right side of the "cross" is touching the right side of the sig.

-Then right click in the middle of your sig, click "Select Inverse"

-Then right click on the selected area > Stroke.

-Then (what I do) 1 pixel, center, color black, set it to overlay, click "ok", and you're finished.

just overlap a 1px border around the whole thing with the box tool, takes 15 sec...

If you use photoshop, here's an easy way that I usually do it with either a single or double border.

Another easy way to get a border and even double borders is to create a new layer on top, and fill it with white. Then go to the filter effects and add stroke to the inside and whatever color you want. Then set the top layer to "Darken" mode. It's in the pull down at the top of your layer pallette. To get a double border (like mine below), use your rectangle marquee tool(M), and put a rectangle around your whole sig(pic). Make sure you're on the new layer you just created. Then click on Select>Modify>Border... and inset it to 3 pixels(if you have a 1 pixel original border). Now you have to hit command(or ctrl if you use windoze)+Shift+I to inverse your selection. Now fill it with white by doing command(ctrl)+delete(backspace) or by going to Edit>Fill. Now do the same step as before by adding stroke and setting the layer to darken, and voila, a double border. And if you want white in the middle instead of it being transparent, just put another layer with white stroke on the bottom of the 2 border layers you just made.

Heh, I just use a 1 pixel black pencil and draw around it. Nothing too fancy.

lol... I just use a good old fashioned one pixel brush... works quite well!
