There's no reason for us not to keep him if the coaches want him (no idea why you wouldn't, but it's possible). It doesn't sound like he really wants to stay, but we can always franchise him to keep him here this year, and work on a long term deal later. I think that unless you are worried about him being a bad guy in the locker room if he stays, you should franchise him now, then work on a long term deal to keep him here. It is just too important to have a good player in the middle of the Oline to let him go.

i think keeping bentley should be a priority for this coaching staff. he is so young and so talented, letting him go at this stage of his career would be a complete waste. like danny said, the idea is to build a good o-line and keep them together for a while - this develops synergy. and it all starts in the middle of that line. with bentely and jamal brown, and some of the other younger guys we have, the saints could have a dominant o-line for deuce to run behind. and one that could protect a young, pocket-passing quarterback like, oh maybe, matt leinart?

looks like we might lose bentley to the eagles. maybe we could pick up kevin mawae since the jets cut him. i think he has a couple years left in him.
