**Greatest Historical Figure Of All Time Nominations**

Postby VaderFin » Thu Jan 19, 2006 3:52 pm

With the debate the GHF thread has gotten it is now time to decide once and for all just who is The Greatest Historical Figure Of All Time. There will be a 32 seed tournament battle decided by your votes. We will have 4 "regions" War, Religion, Politics, and Science.

Jesus Christ is ineligible for I think obvious reasons.

This thread will be open until January 28th at 8 pm est. What we want is for you to post your nominations for who you think should make the tournament. Repeat nominations are encouraged and may result in a higher seed for said figure. Feel free to argue why you think someone should make the tourney as this may get that person in. Some figures, like George Washington, may fall into more then one category so when you nominate try to mention in what category and why.

Seeding will be determined by myslef, Knapplc and Moonhead and the tourney will start soon after the nominations end.

Who will win???? :-?

Well there are a bunch I have, so I'm just going to list them in no particular order:

Mahatma Ghandi - (Religion, Politics) Pretty much brought peace to India in the early part of the 20th century
Julius Ceaser - (War, Politics) Led the Roman Empire when it was at its height
Napoleon Bonaparte - (War, Politics) One of the greatest conquerors of all time, without a doubt the greatest in the last 500 years
Alexander the Great - (War) Like Napoleon and Ceaser, one of the greatest conquerors of all time
Leonardo Da Vinci - (Science) The most advanced inventor for his time that we know of...

Is this for "Greatest" or "Most Influential"??

If it's Greatest, I think we will have a big time American slant and forget about some of World History....just a question...I'm fine either way...

That's really up to your personal interpretation. I'll be providing bios on all the contestants because it's quite possible people won't have a full knowledge on why Person X is historically relevant in the field of War or Politics.

It's possible this will have an American slant, but we'll try to keep it as competitive as possible for all players, both foreign and domestic.

It's Greatest but what determines Great is up to you guys when you vote. I expect an American slant as we are Americans but I think we have enough smart people to realize how short a period of history Americans have been relevant for.
