Science- Johannes Kepler - German astronomer who also supported the Copernican theory and proposed that planetary orbits were eliptical.
War- Cyrus the Great- King of Persia, and founder of the Achaemenid dynasty, died 529 BCE. He conquered all of Asia Minor, before conquering Babylonia where, according to the Bible, the Jews were held captive. Herodotus tells how Cyrus adopted from the defeated king Croesus of Sardis the practice of demanding a tribute of ten percent of his soldier's spoils, which may have then been implemented in the Jewish religion as the tithe, when Cyrus sent the Jews to rebuild Jerusalem.
Science - Hippocrates- Recognized as "the Father of Medicine," he was born the son of a physician in about 460 BCE and wrote extensively about his observations of medical conditions.
Politics - Peter the Great - Responsible for westernizing Russia.
Science - Tycho Brahe - He is credited with the most accurate astronomical observations of his time, and the data was used by his assistant Kepler to derive the laws of planetary motion. It should be noted that none before Tycho had attempted to make so many redundant observations, and the mathematical tools to take advantage of them had not yet been developed. His mark in science should not be understated, for he had done what others before him were unable or unwilling to do — to catalogue the planets and stars with enough accuracy so as to determine whether the Ptolemaic or Copernican system was more valid in describing the heavens.

I nominate Jesus, the Christ.
Born of a virgin. Lived a sinless life. Performed incredible miracles. Sufferred a horrendous death for the redemption of man. Rose from that same death. Changed the world more than any single other life. and... Promised to return during the generation that sees the rebirth of Israel into their homeland (May 14, 1948). FYI, that would be this generation.
Yeah, I nominate that guy!
Gosh, you have to feel lucky we were fortunate enough to be born into a Christian society. Kinda have to feel sorry for the other 4 billion people on the planet that never even had a chance.

He's already been nominated but I just wanted to 2nd and throw out some love for my boy Hannibal. Dude actually took elephants across from Africa and into Spain, up into France, across the freakin Alps and into Italy where they terrorized Italy for 15 years. If he would have had more support from his homeland Hannibal was oh so close to making the Roman Empire we all know of nonexistent.

Please continue this discussion in another thread. I don't want this one locked up because someone disagrees with someone else's beliefs.

Thanks for your understanding!
There's really nothing to continue. I just felt like I was being preached at, and I was just pointing out that worldwide, Nfl Fan held a minority opinion. Was this wrong to point out? I think maybe, we should all have a little more understanding, yes?

Anyway, carry on.
The point is we don't want the thread to go on a tangent and get locked or deleted.
