Not sure about this but the Pope was shot, he did not die. It was the same Pope that dies in 2005.

Something else I've noticed is that four out of every five people in the Cafe make up 80% of the total Cafe population.

I checked in 2004 when I joined up, just for kicks. I rechecked it in 2005, and once again today. Still holds true.
