Myself and others in my highschool were subjected to far more humiliating stuff than having other students throwing wadded up paper at us. I'm telling you...I'd be willing to wager that it was all in good fun and the student in question didn't even really mind, but that the parents have a "you're not going to mess with my kid" attitude and they are making a big deal out of it.

Yep! That's my guess too.

Sure. That is why the kid left 20 questions blank because he didn't even mind. Uh huh.

The only thing lamer then the punk ass teacher is whoever leaked this to the media. Now that is lame.

I go to a Catholic school and during the World Cup 4 years ago I brought an Irish flag to class that was sticking out of my backpack. About 80% of the teachers and 60% of the kids at my school are Italian.

The teacher said something about the flag "Paint that orange red" or something of that nature, and I came back with a comment about Italian soccer being a joke (diving and being wusses) and the teacher was so taken aback the whole issue was dropped.

For the record, I am not a soccer fan strictly representing for the Irish.

Jeez people sure can take things too far.

As far as "standing up and challenging all em to a fight," are you joking?

1. That kid looks like a wimp.

2. Most people are not going to challenge an entire room to a fight. When you are the only person being picked on, and the whole class is against you, it is really hard to stand up for yourself.

This is very true. Many, many studies have shown that we are sheep and we tend to do what we're told.

Example from my life - in Ninth Grade a gym teacher thought I was mouthing off to him and slammed me up against the lockers three times. He got off without any punishment. Yeah, my dad ripped him a new one when they had a meeting, but that was it. No suspension, no dockage of pay, nada.

Of course, that was in 1985, pre-Everything-Must-Be-PC, so take that with a grain of salt.

Kids today are pansies. We just had to take it from teachers back in MY day.
