From Rotoworld...

Daunte Culpepper - QB - Vikings

Daunte Culpepper has parted ways with agent Mason Ashe.
Ashe reportedly tried to re-start contract renegotiations last week without Culpepper's permission. Culpepper has indicated recently that he preferred to play where he was wanted, which means some preliminary trade talks could be on the way. Jan. 24 - 10:35 pm et

Makes alot of sense now it seemed out of wack that he was asking for a restructure after a very bad start of a season then a very bad knee injury. As for me i'm still crossing my fingers he goes to the Cardinals.

His agent probably told him "what are you crazy asking for a new contract?"

The truth hurts C-Pepp.

I heard on the news that team ownerish as well as Brad Childress didn't want anything to do with trading him and wanted to keep him. So I can't see a trade coming along because although many Vikings fans think Brad Johnson is what they need for the franchise(I hear it all the time since I live in MN), hes not a quarterback to build your franchise around.

brad johnson is def not a franchise qb. I think they should atleast try to keep culpep. The guy had one off year, nothing was going right for him. Hopefully he will be good to go this year, whenever it is he can come back. BUT if i was the vik's i wouldnt do anything ridiculous

I've read the thinking is that Brad Johnson is better for the West Coast Offense - Culpepper's strengths are more in the area of athleticism and talent as opposed to making the pre-snap reads that are so crucial to the WCO.

Maybe:

Trade Culpepper, get what you can, draft a QB to develop, and lett Brad Johnson hold the reigns in the mean-time.

Brad Johnson is an excellent WCO QB.

Still, Brad Johnson doesn't have a lot of mileage left. I wouldn't be comfortable having Brad as my starter unless I had a good young QB behind him.
